Questions and answers
Everything people ask us about Glossa, in one place.
What is Glossa: Word Puzzle?
Glossa is a word puzzle game for iPhone and Android. You swipe across a wheel of letters to spell words, and every word you find drops into a small crossword. Each level is set in a hand-printed city, and a Daily Emoji riddle gives everyone the same clue each day.
Which languages can I play in?
English, Spanish, Dutch, German and French. Each language has its own word lists and its own puzzles, made for that language rather than translated. You can switch at any time in Settings; your streak, Stamps and postcards come with you.
Is Glossa free?
Yes. Every Journey level (2,000 per language) and the Daily Emoji are free to play, with 3 free hints a day. Glossa Lifetime and Glossa Plus remove ads and add hints and postcards, but nothing you buy is needed to finish a level.
Does Glossa have ads?
The free version shows a short ad break between levels, at most once every three levels. It is never shown mid-puzzle or when you retry, it can be skipped after five seconds and it is muted when your phone is on silent. You can also choose to watch an ad for an extra hint. Lifetime and Plus show no ads at all.
What is the difference between Lifetime and Plus?
Glossa Lifetime is a one-time purchase: no ads ever, 10 hints a day, the Mexico City postcard and streak insurance. Glossa Plus is a subscription with everything in Lifetime plus unlimited hints, both puzzle packs while you subscribe and the Daily Archive. You can cancel Plus any time in your App Store or Google Play settings.
How do hints work?
Everyone gets free hints each day: 3 on the free version, 10 with Lifetime, unlimited with Plus. Free hints come back at local midnight. Hint packs bought in the Store never expire and are used after your free hints. Hints are sold for real money only, never for Stamps, and there is never a timer on an offer.
What are Stamps?
Stamps are Glossa’s in-game coin. You earn them from bonus words, cleared levels, daily rewards and optional ads. They unlock city postcards, such as Mexico City, and nothing else: they never buy hints or progress, and you cannot buy them with money.
What is the Daily Emoji?
Every day Glossa shows two or three emoji that point to one word. Everyone playing in your language gets the same clue. Tries are unlimited, and your share card shows the emoji, the letter count and your streak, never the answer. Past days live in the Daily Archive, which is included in Plus or can be unlocked once.
How many levels are there?
The Journey has 2,000 levels in every language, from short four-letter wheels to long eight-letter ones. Puzzle packs add 100 themed levels each, in all five languages: Travel and Food & Kitchen are available now.
Can Glossa help me learn a language?
Glossa is a word game, not a course, but many players use it to practise vocabulary in a language they are learning. The word lists come from real dictionaries and word-frequency data for each language, so the words you find are words people actually use.
Which devices does Glossa run on?
iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and Android phones with Android 8.0 or later.
Do I need an account? What happens to my data?
There are no accounts. Your progress is stored on your phone and in your platform’s own backup (iCloud on iPhone, Android backup on Android), and purchases are restored from the App Store or Google Play. Read the privacy policy for the details on ads and anonymous statistics.
Can I play offline?
Yes. Levels and the Daily Emoji are stored on your phone. You only need a connection to buy something, restore a purchase or load an ad.
Does paying make the game easier?
No. Nothing you buy changes the difficulty of a level. Paying removes ads, adds hints and unlocks postcards and packs.
How do I restore a purchase or get help?
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchase. For anything else, write to support@playglossa.app. A person answers, usually within two days.
Will there be more languages and cities?
We plan to add more over time. When a new language arrives, it is free for everyone.
